WELCOME TO ISSUE 27 OF
THE [PALM] SUNDAY TIMES
I'm back at work this week after a week spent in NC for labor day. While there I spent a lot of time in Emerald Isle fishing, shrimping, and looking for seashells. Digging through my dad's old tackle box looking for lures got me inspired to make some fish pendants and other fun dangles with Ancient Roman Glass and pearls. More on those below.
I also have an exciting announcement regarding The [Palm] Sunday Times archive!
So pour yourself a cup of tea and get comfy.

MOTHER OF PEARL FISH

NOW AVAILABLE
During the Regency Era of Europe (early 1800's) games like Quadrille and Ombre were popular parlor games that required gaming counters. The Chinese carved and exported these mother-of-pearl fish and other shapes to the West to be used as counters. I have recently come into a collection of antique fish counters from as early as the 1700's that are intricately carved from beautiful iridescent mother-of-pearl.

I drilled small holes into the ends of the fish and, inspired by tackle tying techniques for fishing, used fine 14k gold wire to delicately wrap coils and form loops to attach to a chain and to hang a freshwater pearl.

I loved how the jumble of lures and tackle looks together when all piled on a line, so I used some of my pearls, Ancient Roman Glass, and fish to make fun dangles that are also now available. In this photo they are all looped onto our Charm Clasp with a Charm Spacer which is then clipped into our Swivel Clasp.
