The Sunday Times: Issue #30

September 28, 2025

WELCOME TO ISSUE 30 OF

THE [PALM] SUNDAY TIMES

This week has been supremely busy, so for this issue I'll try to recap all that you may have missed. I did a little mini drop on Thursday of some custom patina'd Fontanella pendants and four pearl vessels, along with a new Ethiopian opal necklace and two Mignolo rings. There are still a few pieces left that I'll highlight below. If you didn't score a small pearl vessel, a reminder that they are still available and ready-to-ship from Catbird.

I also set a ring for Paradiso II - a gorgeous seafoam tourmaline. Another tourmaline is now on my bench and ready for me to finish a wax carving for it. This one was cut by a very young and very talented gemcutter that I'll introduce you to below!

So pour yourself a cup of tea and get comfy.

We just finished watching all three seasons of 100 Foot Wave on HBO. It's a docuseries about big wave surfer Garrett McNamara and his quest for riding the biggest wave in existence. It is beautifully done and the score is by Phillip Glass! Highly recommend.

"If you don’t know what to do, there’s actually a chance of doing something new. As long as you know what you’re doing, nothing much of interest is going to happen."

- Phillip Glass

WHAT I FINISHED THIS WEEK

A NEW RING FOR PARADISO II

I am really happy with how this ring came out. It features a bezel-set, responsibly sourced tourmaline sourced via Anza Gems and cut by Peter Torraca. I was inspired by the stone to create a setting and band that followed the curvature of ancient vessels, imagining that the cool blue stone could pour out of the setting. I followed the cut of the stone to create a soft knife-edge on the wide band and the bezel.

WHAT'S ON MY BENCH

ANOTHER TOURMALINE FROM ANZA GEMS

I want to spotlight Nadine Marshall, who cut this incredible gem, and who is NINETEEN years old. I had the pleasure of finally meeting Nadine in person in Tucson this year after following her gemstone cutting journey on instagram. She is truly a phenom and I'm so glad that ANZA partners with her to cut some of their rough. I think this one is going to look spectacular in a more architectural setting with prongs to flood it with light. Stay tuned! Nadine is @ilovegreenrocks on IG if you want to check out some of her other work.

PARADISO II SO FAR

Til next week!

Thanks so much for following along.
Lauren
