Inspired by the flock of Quaker Parrots that inhabit the palm trees in our new neighborhood in St. Pete, Florida, I hand-carved this parrot to bring a bit of our tropical life into the collection. His sweet belly is formed by a fluffy freshwater pearl and a larger palm pearl dangles beneath. I used the technique of depletion gilding to coat the outside of the bird's body in 24k pure gold, to give his feathers an almost green hue. I also hand-engraved feathers for a glittering, fine, texture. Chain sold separately.
