Lauren Jennings is a jeweler, goldsmith, and the founder of Palm Sunday – a fine jewelry brand that blends the geometric forms of sacred architecture and Lauren's natural environment.
Raised in rural North Carolina and now based in Florida, Lauren’s life has always centered around a love for nature and art. Her creative journey led her to study fashion design at Parsons School of Design in New York City. After three years working at a well-known fashion brand, Lauren fostered her creative eye, but also became increasingly aware of the environmental cost of mass production. Seeking a slower, more intentional creative life, she spent a year traveling – and there, the first iteration of Palm Sunday jewelry was born. Palm for the tropical nature she was drawn to; Sunday for her days off of work in which she was free to create. Upon returning home, Lauren began teaching art at her former high school, working in the same calming space that had once nurtured her creativity. But it was when she was encouraged to take a weekend metalsmithing class that she found her true calling. And with that, Palm Sunday began to blossom.
In 2020, Lauren deepened her craft, working from a makeshift studio in her living room to launch her first cohesive collection of Palm Sunday in 2020. Inspired by her travels and affinity for the sea, she discovered a connection between the sacred geometry of Renaissance architecture in Italy, and the organic patterns of the coastal flora of her home. Lauren’s designs organically evolved to meld the characteristics of the Renaissance – harmony, symmetry, emotional resonance, and spiritual depth – with the quiet beauty of the natural environment. And “Palm Sunday” took on a new meaning. Palm for our hands, which express our emotions and forge our creative paths; Sunday for sacred reverence and intentionality. Palm Sunday evokes a feeling of stillness and warmth – like talking a calming breath. Lauren creates wearable hallowed moments in fine jewelry that deepen the connection between ourselves and our surroundings.
Integrity is Lauren’s north star in her work. She makes every piece by hand in small batches using SCS Certified recycled gold, and in 2021 went through the rigorous process to become a Certified Fairmined Jeweler, the gold standard for ethical gold sourcing that ensures traceable materials and fair practices for both miners and the environment. Equally important to Lauren is the quality and longevity of her jewelry. She aims to create thoughtful pieces that make the wearer feel powerful, connected, and abundant – notions that, like well-made jewelry, should last forever.
